about me

Hello, my name is Anastasia, I'm a marketing specialist living in Amman, Jordan. Trying to study Italian and Arabic. Interested in local restaurants and events.

Breakfast in Amman: Namliyeh

That wasn’t something I have planned: I saw a contest in Instagram, participated and in a while I was a winner for a toast at Namliyeh. To be honest, I’ve never considered a toast as a breakfast option, so I was quite skeptical: I saw them in Instagram and they are good but not any photo can describe it!

If you’ve never heard of Namliyeh, it’s a shop, located in Jabal Al Weibdeh, the owners are Manal and Aya, and they are making jams out of the local organic fruits and herbs. There are regular jams, as apricot and strawberry but they also make batches with a twist, like lemon and lavender, or quince and cardamom. The price of the jar is 5-6JD for 250gr., so if you want to visit your friends or relatives and bring them a special gift, or you want to treat yourself during the long weekend breakfast, it’s worth getting by and buying. They also have seasonal honeys and they are very aromatic.

Namliyeh in Jabal Al Weibdeh sells jams made of local organic fruits and herbs, the price is 5-6JD for a jar.

So, getting back to Namliyeh toast: from 10am till 3pm every day (except Thu), they are serving HEAVENLY toasts: the bread is warm, no uneatable dry crust, all soft and not soggy; all the ingredients are fresh, ricotta is exceptional; the drizzle of honey, rose petals and the careful balance of sweetness and flavour richness makes you think “I have to stretch the time and eat it slower”.

If you are looking for a meal that will make you happy and put a smile on your face, that’s Namliyeh toast.

I’m not a fan of big words, especially regarding food, as I enjoy food and local products in Jordan. As we were waiting, I looked at all the people, who flooded the space, inside and outside, sitting so close to each other, sharing their toasts or patiently waiting for their turn to take a seat, and I’ve been wondering why. I have mixed feelings writing an article about it, as it’s a place you’d like to keep for yourself and you wish no one knows about it but you, that’s how good it is. If you are looking for a meal that will make you happy and put a smile on your face, that’s Namliyeh toast.

The place is just a few steps to the left from Stop & Shop in Paris Circle, the price of the toast is 3-5JD.

What's your top breakfast? Let's discuss it in Instagram mylifeinamman.
